Gateway to possibly the most interesting and noble family of all time; truly, history in the making...... Well OK - gateway to the famous and infamous, and then there's the rest of us. But we're family and as far as we're concerned, we're all in it together and count just the same. Anyway, we're not finished yet, so give us some slack and just enjoy the site.

The partial picture of the house (above, left) is where all the Phelps Family grew up. It was a 4 bedroom, 2 bath house with living room, dining room, kitchen and full basement. This picture was taken in 1969 (the year I graduated from high school and left home) and that's Danny on the porch acting like, well, a nut. He was probably 23 or so at the time.

The house was and still is on a corner lot facing Independence St. which is a main street in town. After the passing of our mother & all the children were grown and gone from home, my Dad sold the house, remarried, and moved into a nicer, newer home in a very nice neighborhood for that time.

Cape Girardeau is a city of approximately 40,000 people, and boasts being the hometown of Rush Limbaugh. It's really a beautiful and interesting city, founded on the banks of the Mississippi River, and is a city that is rich in history. For more information, see Cape Girardeau (will open in a new window), also called "The City of Roses," is about 110 miles south of St. Louis, Mo. which is known as "the Gateway to the West."

It will take a while to develop these pages, so please check back from time to time for further developments.
